Well, Major League Pickleball just released one of the biggest announcements to date - NBA Superstar Lebron James, alongside All-Stars Draymond Green, Kevin Love, and Maverick Carter (via LRMR Ventures and SC Holdings) have purchased their own Major League Pickleball team. The team name and roster are unknown at this time, but this news is huge for the MLP and pickleball in general. Steve Kuhn, the founder of Major League Pickleball, went on the record saying “this investment and the platform that this group provides will significantly help us with our goal to reach 40 million pickleball players by 2030.”
With the news breaking that one of the most-popular and influential athletes in the world invested in pickleball, rumors are swirling around the name of the team, and the athletes they’ll put together. I’m sure pickleball pros all over the world are salivating at the chance to be a part of this high-profile team. Wouldn’t it be nice to know who’s already locked into deals, how long they might be locked in, and who’s going to potentially jump ship and join this freight train of a team ready to steamroll their way to an NBA championship? Wait, I mean a Major League Pickleball championship!
With the end of the 2022 Major League Pickleball season coming in mid-October in Ohio, this is likely a team we’ll see debut in 2023, and we cannot wait! We don’t know when new information will become available, but it’s going to be insane to see how this team and roster come together!
