Handle Length
A longer handle provides extra reach, leverage for power, and is ideal for two-handed backhands, while a shorter handle increases maneuverability and offers a larger paddle face for better control.
Short

- Easier to maneuver for precise shots
- More paddle face area for better contact
- Lightweight feel as your hands are closer to the paddle face
- Fits naturally in the hand for a secure hold
- Ideal for players who prefer single-handed shots
- Allows for quick volleys and dinks
Standard

- Works well for different playing styles. If you are unsure what length to start with, standard will give you a balance of both
- Allows for all shots for all ability levels
- Fits naturally in the hand for a balance of reach and stability, and comfort
Long

- Preferred by tennis players – Feels more familiar to those transitioning from tennis
- Helps extend paddle at the kitchen and extends reach on ground strokes
- Generates more power on swings
- Ideal for players who use a two-handed backhand
- Allows for better wrist action and spin control
- Provides a solid feel on powerful shots
Grip Size
The right grip size ensures comfort and reduces strain on the wrist and arm. A smaller grip allows for more wrist action and spin, while a larger grip offers stability and control.
What grip thickness do I need?
One way to measure what grip size you need is by the player's height.
Height Range | Below 5’3” | 5’3” - 5’8” | 5’9” and Above |
---|---|---|---|
Recommended Grip Size | 4” Grip | 4¼” Grip | 4½” Grip |
Or try this trick!
Another way to measure what grip size you need is by measuring your hand from the middle crease on your palm to the end of your ring finger. Grips typically range from 4” to 4 ½” and increase by 1/8” increments.

What are overgrips?
Overgrips are essential in pickleball paddles because they enhance grip, comfort, and control during play. They absorb sweat, preventing the paddle from slipping and allowing for a more secure hold. Overgrips also add cushioning, reducing hand fatigue and making long matches more comfortable. Additionally, they can slightly increase the handle's thickness for a better fit, improving overall handling and shot precision. Replacing overgrips regularly helps maintain a fresh feel and optimal performance on the court.
