Engage Pursuit Pro1 Paddle Review: Which Shape Is Best For You?

Engage Pursuit Pro1 Paddle Review: Which Shape Is Best For You?

As pickleball continues to grow in popularity, so do the paddle choices that are available to you. With over 1,000 paddle manufacturers and tens of thousands of unique paddle options, it can be difficult to narrow down the choices to find your perfect pickleball paddle. That said, when hunting down the perfect court mate, finding an established brand can make your paddle-buying experience a lot easier. Today we’re going to talk specifically about Engage’s top paddle model, the Pursuit Pro1, and which of the 3 shapes would help you get the most out of your game.

Engage released the Pursuit Pro1 Elongated in early 2024, and it quickly rose to become their most popular paddle. A carbon fiber paddle weighing in at just over 8 ounces, elongated shape, polymer core and sleek look, the Pursuit Pro1 puts maximum power potential in your fingertips. With the new releases of the Hybrid and Widebody shapes, the Pursuit line still offers plenty of pop but has expanded its horizons to fit any type of play style.

If you’re looking for maximum power, you’re in the perfect spot. The Pursuit Pro1 will maximize your power potential while providing a highly-gritty surface generating loads of spin. A higher sweet spot and 16.5” in length, the Pro1 Pro is a natural fit for an experienced player looking to add power to their performance.

We recommend this paddle for the experienced player that likes to test the limits of power and spin in every match!

Check out the Specs below:

  • Paddle Weight: Middleweight - 8.0 - 8.3 oz
  • Paddle Weight: Lightweight - 7.6 - 7.9 oz
  • Paddle Length: 16 1/2''
  • Paddle Width: 7 1/2''
  • Paddle Length: 5 7/8''
  • Face Material: Raw Toray T700 Carbon Fiber
  • Core Thickness: 15.875 mm
  • Variable Flex Technology - Paddle won't flex while swinging slow (for more control) but the faster you swing the more it will flex (providing additional power and spin when you need it)
  • Power Series Core - A new innovation power core developed by Engage to create more power while still having enough hold time at the point of contact for control & finesse.

Engage Pursuit Pro1 Hybrid Carbon Fiber Paddle

If you’re looking for the perfect blend of power and control, the Hybrid is exactly what you need in your pickleball life. A blend between the elongated and widebody shapes, the hybrid is designed to bridge the gap between a fully elongated paddle and a widebody shape. Slightly shorter and a smidge wider, the Hybrid shape brings down the sweet spot and provides more control while maintaining rally-ending power. Many will deem the hybrid shape the ‘most universal’ in the Pursuit Pro1 line, and it’s hard to argue with them!

We recommend the Hybrid shape to mid-level to experienced players that are looking for the perfect combination of power and control!

Check out the Specs below:

  • Paddle Weight: Middleweight - 7.8 - 8.2 oz
  • Paddle Length: 16 1/4''
  • Paddle Width: 7 3/4''
  • Paddle Length: 5 7/8''
  • Face Material: Raw Toray T700 Carbon Fiber
  • Core Thickness: 12.7 mm
  • Variable Flex Technology - Paddle won't flex while swinging slow (for more control) but the faster you swing the more it will flex (providing additional power and spin when you need it)
  • Power Series Core - A new innovation power core developed by Engage to create more power while still having enough hold time at the point of contact for control & finesse.
  • Made in the USA

Engage Pursuit Pro1 WideBody Carbon Fiber Paddle

Another new addition to the Pursuit Pro1 family is the widebody shape. The shortest and widest of the Pursuit Pro1 family, the widebody was designed for those players that love a generous sweet spot, shorter paddle, and wider face that creates ultimate control and ball placement. While yielding less power than the Elongated and Hybrid shapes, the Widebody will score the highest marks in control of any of the Pursuit Pro1 family.

We recommend the Widebody shape for players looking for a paddle with a forgiving sweet spot that out performs its competitors in the control category.

Check out the Specs below:

  • Paddle Weight: Middleweight - 7.8 - 8.2 oz
  • Paddle Length: 15 7/8''
  • Paddle Width: 8 1/8''
  • Paddle Length: 5 7/8''
  • Face Material: Raw Toray T700 Carbon Fiber
  • Core Thickness: 12.7 mm
  • Variable Flex Technology - Paddle won't flex while swinging slow (for more control) but the faster you swing the more it will flex (providing additional power and spin when you need it)
  • Power Series Core - A new innovation power core developed by Engage to create more power while still having enough hold time at the point of contact for control & finesse.
