When is Pickleball Season?

pickleball season

As the heat starts to turn up, you may notice a few things across the country - kids are out of school, pools are open, and most importantly, pickleballs are being slammed across courts everywhere! This can only mean one thing... we’ve officially entered peak Pickleball Season!

This summer, you may notice more people enjoying outdoor activities than ever before. As well, you will likely see an abundance of people hitting what appears to be a small yellow whiffle ball back and forth with what looks like a small, plastic tennis racquet. While new to some, Pickleball has been sweeping the nation and in a year where outdoor activities are thriving, expect the pickleball craze to continue in its heaviest season, summer!

Pickleball, which can be played indoors and outdoors, is widely loved as an outdoor sport. Why is this sport preferred to be played outdoors? Maybe it’s the sun? Maybe it’s the fresh air? Maybe some are tired of spending money and time on the golf course without much improvement? All in all, the opportunity to play pickleball outside is oftentimes free and unmatched in fun. Pickleball provides an exciting, sociable, and easy game for all to pick up and enjoy in the sun. You’ll find great fun for all levels of play, whether it’s sweating out rallies or enjoying a cold one and dinking a few over the net. Summer is peak pickleball time for first-time players and seasoned professionals alike, due to the fact that pickleball and sunshine go hand in hand.

Professionals and Their Pickleball Paddles

Now, let’s take a look at the Professional Pickleball Association, also known as the PPA. The PPA is where the top professionals in pickleball are competing for their chance at cash prizes! With 10+ different PPA events across the country spanning from May to early November you can enjoy top professional pickleball action all summer long. Although September, October, and November might not be considered “summer” in parts of the country, the tournaments are being held in locations where the summertime vibe is still very real. These tournaments are played outside on sanctioned pickleball courts and typically, in the beautiful summer weather.

Looking for a summer activity for all? Grab a pickleball paddle, head to the court, bring some friends, pour a drink, and finish the match with a DINK! Summer is the season for pickleball!
